Oun Sambath and his pet python.

A few months after Oun Sambath was born, his family found a baby python under his mattress. They carefully took it outside, but during the night it returned to be with the baby boy. The boy’s father prayed, and decided that the snake belonged to the boy and would bring them happiness.

The boy and the snake have been together ever since. They have played together, have slept together, and even have talked together.

“What do you say to the snake?” People have asked the boy.

“That is a secret,” the boy has replied.

The old pre-colonial Visayan belief of one having a snake twin. Literally it’s a snake that is actually a spirit of a dead ancestor that is born with the person often staying close with them never really leaving their side and was said to lead that person to success and was seen as a symbol of luck and that one was blessed by the ancestors. The early Spaniards noted this widespread belief and some wrote stories of those who gave birth to a baby snake often mistaking it as parts of the placenta. In Alcina’s writings he writes of one incident where the mother was to afraid to have found the snake in the placenta and brought it outside. It eventually came back to be with her boy and still scared of the snake they moved away hoping it wouldn’t find them again.

This bond with this boy pretty much is a living example of that old belief. :D

So, the Homestuck fandom done split, or is rather inactive right now. A lot of people are really upset and sad that we didn’t do anything ridiculous and crazy over the hiatus! Thankfully for us, the hiatus is still going on, hmm? So no losing hope yet, dear fans! We’re going to have a blast during this hiatus.

To kick off the fact that this hiatus is going to be the greatest thing ever and the fact that I do not want to hear one more person say “we split up over the hiatus” we’re going to take the fact that May 21st is coming up. You’re probably thinking 521 isn’t an arc number, yes? Well, it isn’t. But it is the update of this page. [clickie] Sprites are cool.

The idea behind sprites is that objects of the players of the game are taken and formed into one image that helps the player through their game, and benefits the players as a whole. While the prototypes also affects the terrible things of the world they inhabit, they benefit the players and help them through.

To the point now. For this hiatus, we’re going to try to get as many fans as possible to all capture the image of things that are important to them. They can Homestuck related, like art you did of your favorite character or a photo relating to Homestuck, or completely not related to Homestuck at all. Just, things that are important to your life, things that help you to get through “your game.” It doesn’t matter if you think your art skills suck and you’re drawing something, it matters that what you do matters to you.

At the end of everyone making their pictures, we’ll get a team of people together to get as many of these pictures together into a Homestuck-themed collage, which has yet to be planned because I literally just spawned this text post from my poor working brain. I’ll probably be part of this team though damn I’m not doing this by myself ahahaha! But what will happen is it’ll be an attempt to pull as many images together to represent our fandom as a whole.

Oh and I guess the pictures will all need to be tagged something like #521hiatus since that tag probably isn’t used.

By the way, I don’t expect this to be done by May 21st, it’s really just that day that spawned my thinking and a day this will especially occur under. I’d like to have collected most of the pictures by then!

Remember, if it’s tagged 521hiatus it’s going to be easy to find and that tag is probably what I’ll use to find the photos for this whole thing if it manages to work

This may fail, and may sound like a cliche idea, but let’s at least try, guys. It might be fun.
